Phoebe Halpin creates delicate monochrome works on canvas that directly respond to the Australian landscape.
Phoebe is an exciting emerging artist based in Sydney. Only recently finishing her bachelor of Fine Arts at The National Art School, she has already gained recognition by winning second prize in the Belle Art Start prize 2017.
As a process-based abstract artist, Phoebe has developed a unique and distinctive visual language in which she employs repetitive and instinctual mark making, highly informed through memory and experience in the landscape. A monochromatic palette ensures focus on the intricacies of form and texture in her works, where Phoebe chooses to build up the surface only to draw back into it.
